Here comes trouble

Woo wee my boys were hyper today. Maybe they sensed the excitement in me, but they were up to no good all day long! They are starting to be very, very mobile. I know that I mentioned this before, but we have only had all three walkers for one day and just this morning they were all three in very busy use. It is a bit challenging to have all three in three different places at once...especially if I have to change a diaper or try to put someone down for a nap while the other two are out exploring. I thought I had baby proofed but this morning they proved that I had not done a very good job. They definitely found every single thing that missed and then some, laugh. Little Mike especially, he might be a monster child...my little changeling...he pulled a cord out of a plug and then tried to eat it before I could get to him, he tried to put his fingers in the fan in their bedroom, he tried to eat the fan in their bedroom, he tried to pull the baby monitor down on his head while I was changing him, he ate the broom bristles in the kitchen (the broom WAS stuffed by the side of the fridge but somehow he got it), he pulled down the bag of pop cans and exploded them everywhere, he tried to pull himself over by grabbing the edge of the baby swing while he was in the walker, he tried to tip both himself AND Konrad over by grabbing the toys on the tray of Konrad's walker and trying to eat them, he knocked all of the mail off the table and started eating some of it (bills only), he rammed and re-rammed into the bathroom door until he got it open was innocently looking into the toilet by the time I realized that the banging had stopped and he actually made it in there, and he ran into my toes so hard that I thought I might lose a toe. How one little child can be so very mischievous is beyond me, but he is...and that doesn't even touch on Konrad and Zachary who were quite curious as well this morning...although they are not nearly as fast as Mike and Konrad likes to be in whatever room I am in so that helps me fend off his mischief making. I realize that I will be woefully outmatched when they get mobile for real and do not have walkers surrounding them and stopping them form getting all of the things in corners and nooks and crannies...we are in so much trouble, laugh.

A little confession...Zachary rolled over last week for the first time...the problem is that now he won't stop rolling over. All night long he rolls over in his crib and can't right himself and then he cries and cries until we come and fix him. This happened to Mike and Konrad as well so I know that he will figure it out in a few weeks, but for now it is a bit tiresome. Anyway, Zach has been driving me crazy during nap time the past few days because no matter how I lay him down, he wants to lay on his side almost on his stomach and of course once he falls asleep he rolls right over onto his belly and wakes up and starts crying. In my desperation this afternoon for a few minutes uninterrupted peace, I rolled some cloth diapers and zipped them into the leg and stomach section of his PJs so that even if he tried to roll over he can't! Ha ha, take that! I know I am a horrible parent and I felt a little like I was in a "Little Rascals" episode, but it worked and he is still sleeping so...desperation breeds innovation...

On that note, it has been a very innovative day, laugh. Earlier I was trying to fold the laundry but they all wanted to eat it, then I went to put it away and then were all trying to follow me into the bedroom like a row of little ducklings. I tried to distract them but they would have none of it. They wanted to help or atleast watch. I tried to lay them all down in one crib together but they immediately started trying to sit up and pulling eat others hair and it was one mess of babies. They were so very bad that finally I decided to just put them IN the laundry baskets to let them sit up, watch and "help. Then of course they were happy as could be for a whole 15 minutes...which in triplet time is like hours!

Sippy cups and snow babies

We tried sippy cups yesterday. They did okay with them but they mostly wanted to eat the handles. I will keep trying though until they figure it out. We got a third baby walker yesterday and it is pretty hilarious to see them all racing around in the walkers. We line them up and do races, Mikey always wins. He is amazing in that thing. He just whips himself around and then runs in the other direction. The other two still get stuck on furniture or in corners or doorways, but Mikey just backs up and turns around. There is lots of traffic jams because our house isn't that big so they end up face to face and pushing each other into other rooms. They are loving the freedom though and it makes them happier then being stationary. I know that people say it can hamper their walking development but for me it is a life saver. They can come and see me in the kitchen or go back into the living room and they have the freedom to explore the house a bit. Anything that buys me a good 30 minutes of peace and time to clean, cook, make bottles, or do laundry is a good thing...

We also got them winter buntings. They look like little blue starfish or snow babies. They are so darn cute it is almost unbelievable. Mike takes them out on walks every evening and sicne it is getting dark so soon and colder when the sun goes down he has had to stop. But last night there was light and so we bundled them up and got them all snuggly in their blankets and buntings and off they went! They came home with cold noses but warm everything else, so that was a success I suppose...their daddy needed a bunting too so they didn't stay out that long which was probably best for the sake of their cold noses.

Our yard is so full of leaves. I look at my leaf piles and think of next year or the year after when I will have three little hellions to run around in the leaf piles and make more work for me but for good reasons.  I loved fall and leaves as a kid. I still love fall and pumpkin patches and carving pumpkins and apple orchards. They make me happy and I really look forward to sharing this time of year with my boys in a few years. It's full of such excitement.

Fall fun

Today we got a CRAZY fall storm. It was very windy, thundering and lightening and then we got two rounds of hail. Some small then some pretty large. It was a bit scary but mostly awesome.

We went to the Apple Orchard with the Ryan family and Jason and Christina. It was cold but fun and a "must do" activity for fall. I was afraid the boys were gonna fall right off the hay ride, one little girl did and her mommy had to save her!

Mommy and Daddy with the boys at the Orchard

We went to visit Uncle Bill, Aunt Sarah and Finley this past week and to see their new house. Their home is beautiful, the boys LOVED their hardwood floor kitchen and did circles around the island and room in their walker to show their appreciation.

catching up

First, sorry it has been so long since my last post. The boys have been very fiesty for the past few weeks. Teething is not agreeing with them and it makes for some very interesting changes in personality. Konrad and Zachary have two teeth each now. Zach's came in the day after his first tooth and Konrad's 2nd tooth came in a few days after that. It is very funny to see their smile now because you can see their little teeth and they look like cartoons almost, Zach especially because he has such a "classic" baby look. Michael still doesn't have any teeth but they are pushing through his little gums as we speak... I definitely thought they would be in by now but nothing yet, he is certainly just as cranky as the other two...

Zachary finally rolled over and of course now that he has it figured out he is rolling everywhere. He is actually the best at it and he can roll back to belly then belly to back and so he kind of gets around by rolling himself where he wants to go. The other two do not do this at all and rarely roll from belly to back, they kind of just get stuck there and play on their belly's until they get angry enough for me to have to turn them over.  Zach has increased his neck strength considerably in the past couple weeks since his first roll over and he can tolerate belly time much longer now, I guess he just had to be ready for it.

All three boys are grabbing their feet finally and putting them in their mouths. Konrad is like a little monkey and he is using his feet to hold his bottle, grab toys and do all sorts of things. I think he thinks he has 4 hands now, laugh. Mike and Zach grab their feet and hold on and then roll all over the place in a little ball of baby. Its really funny.

Mike is determined to be on his belly most of the time. Changing his diaper and giving him a bath are like wrestlemania now because he is so determined to roll over that you have to hold him down to get him dressed or changed. And we have to be so careful in the bath tub, not that we weren't before, because he tries to roll right over and eat the water...little turd.

They are all little fish and love the water and their bath time. They laugh and kick and splash. Mike and I might as well wear bathing suits for how wet we get and Grandma Debbie almost always gives them their bath when she is here and she finishes bath time soaking wet. She needs a grandma poncho for bath time, laugh.

Mikey is still working on crawling, he is rocking on his knees every once in a while but no major forward crawling yet. Zach is starting to pull his legs under him as well and Konrad is just taking his time. He looks like a baby seal on his belly arms and legs a flailing everywhere. He does push up on his arms but not on his legs yet.

The boys got their RSV/synergis shots this week and it has been a bit of a trip ever since. Konrad had a reaction and his lymph nodes got all swollen and he was feverish, flushed, lethargic and clammy and oh my gosh so cranky for three or four days afterwards. It was really, really a bummer and a bit scary. Mike and Zach were cranky for a day or two but not longer and nothing like Konrad's reaction in either length or severity. Konrad had a bad reaction to his pertussis immunization too so I think we are done with shots for him for a while. All of the boys got fevers and were punky for a few days, but Konrad was just absolutely not himself and had high fevers and issues all around. Not only is it really hard on me to have sick babies, but it is worrisome when he gets so lethargic and not like himself. I just can't afford for something to happen that is worse when he is looking like he has problems with his shots, I wouldn't forgive myself I don't think. Our pediatrician says we will wait for a year or two and then try again...fine with me. Atleast then I will know what he is feeling because he can tell me.

On happier notes, all of the boys are starting to really interact and check each other out. They are laughing at each other and talking little oohs, goos, and aahs to each other and they blow rasberries and make little screams at each other. Sometimes they get the giggles so much when they are on their bellies looking at each other that they can hardly keep their heads up, Mike and Zach find each other especially funny. Mike and Zach are more interested in pulling Konrad's bright curly hair than playing with him, which really pisses him off. It is getting to the point where if Mike comes too close to him Konrad starts kicking, laugh...he is no fool. They boys are so fast in their little walker things now that we have to watch our feet. They jut fly form the door to the kitchen, hit the counters and turn around and then fly back to the door. They have explored all of the bedrooms and the bathroom, so much so that we have to keep the doors closed because we don't want them to get into things. They are pulling things down off the counters and pretty much anything they can grab is no longer safe. They are hilarious.

I will try to keep things updated more often, I know that I missed some things, but it has been so long that I just tried to hit the major things.

Heaven on earth

This morning Konrad and Zachary were very cranky, I assume their teeth were hurting them. I gathered them up and brought them to bed with me. We talked and cooed and wrestled for a while and finally they settled down and fell asleep. As I laid on my back looking at the ceiling with my sleeping babies nestled in on either side of me, I thought that perhaps this was as close as someone could get to heaven on earth.

We have a crawler!!!!

My boys are AMAZING!!!! Not minutes after I posted my "teeth" post, never to be outdone, Mikey did his first crawl! I had the boys playing in their cribs in the bedroom and when I walked in Mikey was doing the "rocking horse" on his hands and knees and he scooted backwards. Then he got back up and took a crawl forward...not really coordinated or anything...but it counts!!!! My boys are so cool...woot! (can you tell I am excited, lol)

The face plant after the rocking horse, lol...this crawling thing is hard
